Nau mai, tūtaki mai ki te whānau o Kia Mau!

In the lead up to Kia Mau Festival 2021, three directors sat down with fifteen creatives, all taking part in the festival. Our directors, Natala Gwiazdzinski, Tama Kawha and Kahu Kutia were given a brief to bring their own creative style to these interviews. Our Kia Mau creatives reflect on their work practice, their upbringings and communities, and the nature of creativity.

Moana Nui is a curated digital experience of live performance from Kia Mau Festival. From full-length theatre and dance shows filmed in season at Kia Mau; to the raw and intimate final rehearsal room performances as artists prepare for their Opening Night.

Ahi Kā is a dynamic collaboration with independent Māori filmmakers from Te Ūpoko-o-te-ika-a-Māui - fusing together artists from theatre, dance, music, literature & film.
