Big Hair, Don't Care - Episode One
Nau mai, tūtaki mai ki te whānau o Tawata!
Big Hair, Don’t Care is a celebration of the history, the contribution and the innovation of Indigenous women and women of Colour who are playwrights, screenwriters, actors, directors and producers for stage and screen.
In 2022, long before the pandemic, the systemic lack of equity and visibility of Indigenous women and women of Colour across all facets of the arts industry in Aotearoa New Zealand continues to be an issue. An industry dominated by mono-cultural leadership and narratives, opportunities for equity and visibility continue to be compounded.
Big Hair, Don’t Care acknowledges the remarkable work of our trailblazing artists, and asks what more needs to be done to support women in the industry in Aotearoa.
